Ingredients:

  • 5 peeled & sliced peaches
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ granulated sugar

For batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • 6 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, sugar, & salt.
  2. Cook for a few minutes on medium heat, till the sugar dissolves and helps to bring out the juices inside the peaches. Set aside after removing from the heat.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cut the butter in pieces and place it in a baking dish. Place the pan into the oven to warm while the butter melts. Remove the pan off the oven once the butter has melted.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the salt, sugar, baking powder, & . Stir in the milk till barely mixed. Pour the ingredients into the pan and smooth them into an equal layer over the melted butter.
  5. Spread the batter with the peaches & juice (or canned peaches, if using). Generously sprinkle cinnamon on top.
  6. Bake for forty mins at 350 degrees. If desired, serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Notes:

  • For the finest flavor, use ripe, juicy peaches. Depending on availability, you can use fresh or canned peaches. Peel and slice fresh peaches before adding them to the cobbler.
  • Toss the peach slices with sugar, flour, and a mixture of warm spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg. This enhances the natural sweetness resulting in a tasty filling.
  • Peach cobbler topping is comparable to biscuit batter. The ingredients are flour, salt, baking powder, sugar, and chilled butter. Cut the butter in the dry ingredients till it resembles small crumbs, then stir in the milk to form a dough. This results in a soft, flaky crust.
